I began my stained glass training in 2013, first working for a Glasgow stained glass studio and then completing an MA in glass at Edinburgh College of Art.

From the first moment, I’ve been in love with the textures and colours of glass, and the juxtaposition between designing modern windows and handmaking them using historic methods.

My process involves developing ideas through drawings and then translating them into suitable designs for glass. I hand-cut and paint the glass pieces, firing them several times in the kiln to add layers of shading, detail and texture. I assemble the pieces and connect them with lead, before finally securing the whole panel with cement to make it weather-proof and long-lasting.

The process is almost entirely the same as that of craftspeople hundreds of years ago; and the panels I make are designed to last for hundreds of years to come.
